Parent Workshop

The Parent Workshop outlines the basis for the Emotional Literacy Programme, with a focus on some of the ways parents can support their child’s mental and emotional wellbeing within the home, thereby reinforcing the work being done in school.

The Workshop includes a PowerPoint presentation that covers aspects of children’s social and emotional development, including how the brain responds to stress and anxiety and the types of things we can do to help children ‘calm down’ after they have felt angry or emotional. We consider some of the practical strategies that we can include in our everyday routine that enable us to ‘See, Hear and Hold’ our childrenand in doing so, support their emotional wellbeing. We also include discussion around topics such as how to talk to your children about their worries and concerns and provide opportunity to ask questions throughout.
